ABILENE – McMurry softball player Jade Dickens was the epitome of a tough out last season and now has the hardware to prove it.
 
Head Coach David McNally on Tuesday presented Dickens with the NCAA's Hardest to Strikeout Award for Division III.
 
Dickens, in 115 plate appearances last season, had zero strikeouts.
 
"Jade is the definition of grit," McNally said. "She is her biggest critic and is always one of the first ones asking questions about film and dissecting her performance. Then she will spend extra hours grinding out her struggles until she is happy with it.  I couldn't ask for a more dedicated and passionate player on our team."

Dickens batted .392 last season.
