This Week in McM Swimming and Diving

ABILENE – McMurry Swimming and Diving returns home for its first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference home dual when the University of the Ozarks comes in for a pair of duals at 6 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday.
 
The Ozarks women are 2-1 with dual wins over Austin College and Centenary while the Ozarks men come in at 0-3.
 
The McMurry women are 0-4, including two losses to Centenary while the War Hawk men enter at 2-3, including wins over Centenary and St. Thomas.
 
McMurry Storylines
 
Swimmer of the Week: Maddy Rohrer was Swimmer of the Week last week. Rohrer was the leading scorer this weekend for the War Hawks in the team's two meets over the weekend. The junior took individual gold in four events and silver in two others. On Friday against UTRGV, St. Thomas and Southwestern, she won the 500 free with a lifetime personal best and also touched first in the 200 free. She finished second in the 100 free. On Saturday, Rohrer won the 100 and 200 free events and finished second in the 50 free against UTRGV and St. Thomas.
 
Diver of the Week: The SCAC named Elijah Trevino the Diver of the Week last week. Trevino won the men's 1-meter diving events last weekend against Southwestern on Friday and St. Thomas and Saturday. His score on Saturday was a personal best for him this season.
 
Winners in Houston: McMurry won several events in their last outing at St. Thomas. Maddy Rohrer won the 200 freestyle in 2:05.14 and the 100 free in 57.24, giving her four freestyle wins for the weekend. She won the 500 free in 5:36.41 and the 200 free in 2:06.27 on Friday. Wes Scalf won two individual events and was on two winning relay teams to lead the War Hawk men on Saturday. Scalf joined Victor Zambrano, Caden Motheral and Harrison Brown on the winning 200 medley relay team at 1:43.49. Kristopher Cantu, Scalf, Montgomery Cortez and Brown were on the winning 400 free relay at 3:28.61. Scalf won the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.80 and the 100 freestyle in 49.88. He also won the 50 freestyle on Friday in 49.18 seconds. Zambrano captured the 100 backstroke in 1:02.03. Trevino repeated his one-meter diving win on Saturday, this time with a score of 187.80. He won the vent on Friday with a 192.6.
 
Women's Backstroke: Caitlyn Sauer-Newell leads the War Hawks in the women's 100 and 50 backstroke events with times of 1:05.98 and 31.33 seconds. She leads in the 200 backstroke at 2:20.15. 
 
Men's Backstroke: Cortez leads the McMurry men with a 27.00 in the 50 and  Zambrano has a 58.49 in the 100 and a 2:05.69 in the 200.
 
Men's Breaststroke: Scalf tops the McM men with a 1:00.55 in the 100 breaststroke and 27.85 in the 50. Harrison Brown leads in the 200 at 2:27.07.
 
Women's Breaststroke: Leilani Washington has the top women's time in the 50 at 40.00 and the 200 at 3:17.38. Rohrer leads in the 100 at 1:16.07.
 
Women's Butterfly: Mow leads the War Hawk women in the 50 butterfly at 30.45 and at 1:08.30 in the 100. She has a team-best 2:37.71 in the 200.
 
Men's Butterfly: Daniil Kochkonbaev leads the McM men in the 50 at 26.51 while Caden Motheral has the best time in the 100 at 59.35 and the 200 at 2:19.52.
 
Men's Freestyle: Harrison Brown tops the McMurry men in the 50 free at 22.81. Wes Scald leads the team in the 100 at 49.18. Zambrano has a 1:53.00 in the 200, a 5:16.17 in the men's 500 free. Montgomery Cortez has a 10:45.66 in the 1000 free to lead the squad.
 
Women's Freestyle: Rohrer leads the women in the 50 free at 25.89, the 100 free at 57.14, the 200 at 2:05.14 and the 500 at 5:36.41. Mia Mendez has the team's best time in the 1000 at 14:37.65.
 
Women's IM: Sauer-Newell has McMurry's best time in the 200 individual medley at 2:21.38 and the 400 IM at 5:12.43.
 
Men's IM: Wes Scalf leads the men in the 200 individual medley at 2:05.86 and Montgomery Cortez leads in the 400 at 4:37.25.
 
Women's Relays: Mow, Sauer-Newell, Rohrer and Washington have the top time in the women's 400 free relay at 3:56.73 and the 200 medley at 2:02.74.  Washington, Milana Johnson, Mow and Sauer-Newell lead the 200 free relay at 1:50.36 Washington, Sauer-Newell, Mow and Rohrer have the best time in the 400 medley relay at 4:33.78.
 
Men's Relays: Brown, Motheral, Wright and Scalf have the best time in the men's 400 free at 3:25.12. Kristopher Cantu, Cortez, Scalf and Brown have the best men's time in the 200 free relay at 1:35.98 and Zambrano, Scalf, Motheral and Brown have best mark in the 200 medley at 1:43.49. Cortez, Simen Loevaas, Daniil Kochkonbaez and Sterling Wright lead McM in the 400 medley relay at 4:00.15.
 
Diving: Elijah Trevino leads the War Hawks in the one-meter at 192.60.
