GARLAND, TX – The McMurry men continued their push through the heart of the conference championship meet on Thursday, turning in multiple championship-final performances and staying competitive in the team standings after Day Two of the SCAC Championships.
McMurry was paced by a strong core of veterans and emerging talent, with standout efforts from
Harrison Brown,
Victor Zambrano,
Wes Scalf, and
Levi Kleen, each contributing key points in individual events and relays.
Senior
Harrison Brown produced the War Hawks' top finish of the evening, earning a fifth-place finish in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:59.69. Brown's performance placed him among the conference's elite and delivered critical team points. He also anchored McMurry's 400 medley relay "A" squad, helping secure another fifth-place finish with a combined time of 3:35.36.
Sophomore
Victor Zambrano followed closely behind Brown in the 200 IM, finishing eighth overall in 2:06.56. Zambrano also opened the medley relay with a steady backstroke leg that kept McMurry in the hunt for a podium spot.
In one of the fastest events of the night,
Wes Scalf delivered a big swim in the 50 freestyle, placing sixth with a time of 21.15. Scalf later returned to help the relay unit, providing another crucial point contribution for the War Hawks.
Freshman
Levi Kleen represented McMurry well in the 500 freestyle, touching in 4:59.65 to finish 12th overall in a deep field. Kleen's consistency in the distance events continued to add valuable depth for the War Hawks' lineup.
McMurry's 400 medley relay "A" team (Zambrano, Scalf, Kochkonbaev, Brown) capped the night with a fifth-place finish, one of the team's strongest relay showings of the meet. The "B" relay also scored, finishing 12th and reinforcing the program's growing depth across all four strokes.
With two days complete, the War Hawks remain firmly in the hunt in the team standings, sitting at fourth overall, and will look to capitalize on sprint and distance events as the championship meet moves into its final stages.
