RICHARDSON, Texas – The American Southwest Conference announced the 2019 Men's Soccer postseason awards on Tuesday afternoon, revealing five McMurry players that received recognition.
For the first time in his career, senior
Miguel Esteban Jr. earned a postseason award, using a breakthrough season to earn first team all-conference honors. The senior finished with career-best 12 goals in 16 games, the second-most goals in the conference. He also had 25 points to his name, as well as three game-winning goals.
Freshman defender
Luis Lopez also made an immediate impact for the War Hawks, earning third team honors. Lopez finished with five assists from the back line, including assists in ASC wins over Belhaven and Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Seniors
Javi Mejia and
Jesus Sanchez were named honorable mentions, along with junior midfielder
DJ Jaime. The mention is the first for both Mejia and Jaime, while marking the third honor for Sanchez in his four-year career.
Mejia was a primary contributor for the War Hawks this year, tying for a team-best five assists to go along with six goals. His 17 points ranked second on the team and tied for seventh in the ASC.
