McMurry Earns Dominant 5-1 Road Win Over Dallas

IRVING, TX - The McMurry men's soccer team secured its first conference win of the season with a decisive 5-1 victory over Dallas on Sunday at U Dallas Soccer Field. After the Crusaders scored an early goal, the War Hawks responded with five unanswered goals to take the road win.

Dallas opened the scoring in the 6th minute. The War Hawks fought back, and Arsany Ibrahim found the equalizer just before halftime with an unassisted goal in the 42nd minute.

The War Hawks' offense exploded in the second half, scoring four goals. Jovani Burnett netted the go-ahead goal in the 68th minute with an unassisted strike, his first goal of the season. Less than two minutes later, Pedro Yanez scored an unassisted goal in the 70th minute, his seventh of the season. Jordan Katende added another goal in the 82nd minute, assisted by Pedro Yanez. The scoring was capped off by Angel Lugo in the 88th minute with an unassisted goal, bringing the final tally to 5-1.

McMurry dominated the offense, out-shooting the Crusaders 11-5, with seven shots on target. Jovani Burnett, Jordan Katende, Pedro Yanez, Angel Lugo, Cristian Canas, and Dylan Christian each recorded a shot on goal. Goalkeeper Jose Sanchez earned the win, securing the second-half shutout.

The War Hawks wrap up the regular season Saturday, November 1st, at 7:30 p.m. against Schreiner University in Kerrville at Mountaineer Soccer Field.
