ROUND ROCK, TX - The McMurry men's soccer team suffered a tough 2-1 conference loss to Concordia (TX) on Sunday at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex. Despite scoring the first goal of the second half, the War Hawks were unable to overcome the Tornados' relentless offensive pressure.
Concordia scored the only goal of the first half in the 33rd minute. The War Hawks quickly responded in the second half when Justyn Judie tied the game in the 48th minute with an unassisted goal, his third of the season. However, the Tornados responded in the 67th minute, scoring the eventual game-winner.
The War Hawks were outshot 22-7, but their defense held strong with goalkeeper Joaquin Sanchez recording an impressive nine saves, five of which came in the first half. Justyn Judie led the War Hawks' offense with two shots on goal, followed by Pedro Yanez with one.
The War Hawks will look to rebound as they continue their conference road schedule against Colorado College on Friday, October 24th, at 4:30 p.m. at Stewart Field in Colorado Springs.
