ABILENE, Texas – The McMurry men's soccer program won their third game in their last four chances as they defeated the Patriots of Dallas Baptist, 1-0, on Thursday evening at Edwards Field.

The first half was a defensive struggle for both teams as there were just seven total shots taken, and none on goal, as the teams went into the half tied at 0-0.

In the second half the War Hawks began to put more pressure on the Dallas Baptist defense, collecting seven corner kicks in the half, and McMurry finally broke through and notched the only goal of the game off the foot of Cody Gentry in the 75th minute, to make the score 1-0. McMurry and keeper Neil O'Sullivan would then hold off the Patriots, to take the game 1-0, sweeping the season series from DBU.

For Gentry, his goal marked the second of his career and first of the season in Maroon & Black. O'Sullivan made three saves defensively for the War Hawks, with all three saves coming in the second half of play.

McMurry will be back in action on Saturday, October 20 as the Hilltoppers of St. Edward's University come to town. The contest is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
