Men's Soccer Announces 2026 Schedule

ABILENE, TX - Following a two-year stint in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), the McMurry University War Hawks are officially returning to their roots. The university has released its highly anticipated men's soccer schedule, marking the program's return to the American Southwest Conference (ASC).

"We're really excited about the schedule we've put together this year. We have a strong core group returning, and with the addition of our incoming freshmen and transfers this fall, there's a lot of energy and excitement surrounding the program," said head coach Lorenzo Segura. "Going into my second season, having Coach Castillo with a full year under his belt has already made a tremendous impact. His energy and passion for seeing this program be successful continue to raise the standards and competitiveness within the team, and our players have really fed off that hunger and mentality."

An Early Start at Home
The War Hawks will kick off the season at Wilford Moore Stadium with a home matchup against Dallas Christian College on August 22. The opening homestand continues on August 26 against the University of the Southwest, giving fans early opportunities to see the squad before the Alumni Game on August 29.

"Following a great spring season, where we had the most returning players we've had during the spring, it gave us the opportunity to be very selective with the additions we wanted to bring into the program this fall," Segura added. "We're excited about the pieces we've added and how they complement the culture and foundation we're continuing to build."

Road Tests and a Trip to Atlanta
September opens with an away game at former SCAC rival Southwestern University on September 1. After briefly returning home to host Lyon College and Wayland Baptist University, McMurry will face tough road tests in South Texas against the University of St. Thomas and Concordia University.

A major highlight of the non-conference slate is a trip to Atlanta, Georgia, for the John P. Salamone Invitational.

"We're also excited to give our players a unique experience with the trip to Atlanta and the opportunity to compete against outstanding programs like Emory University and Oglethorpe University," Segura noted. "It's a competitive schedule that will challenge us early, help us grow as a team, and prepare us for what's ahead going into conference season."

Late September Brings the ASC Return
"Going back into the ASC is something our team is looking forward to, and we feel this schedule will prepare us well for conference play," Segura said.

Following a quick stop at Arlington Baptist University on September 24, McMurry will officially kick off its highly anticipated ASC return on September 26, hosting crosstown rival Hardin-Simmons University. October is packed with intense conference action, including crucial home matchups against Howard Payne University, Schreiner University, University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, and East Texas Baptist University. The regular season wraps up on Halloween night with a rematch across town at Hardin-Simmons.
