MARSHALL, Texas - Postseason soccer arrives in Marshall Tuesday night as the No. 6-seeded McMurry University men's soccer team visits No. 3-seed East Texas Baptist University in the quarterfinals of the 2026 American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament. Kickoff is at 5:00 p.m. on November 3. The match will be played on East Texas Baptist's campus at Cornish Field.
McMurry (1-15-1, 0-9-1 ASC) enters the postseason looking for a fresh start in tournament play. The War Hawks' defense is anchored by freshman goalkeeper
Enrique Cabello, who has a 2.97 goals-against average and 86 saves in 14 appearances. Offensively, forward
Justyn Judie leads with four goals and eight points, supported by
Audrick Moreno (3 goals) and
Arsany Ibrahim (2 goals).
Johnny Rocha has contributed as a playmaker, providing McMurry's lone assist of the season.
East Texas Baptist (8-6-3, 4-3-3 ASC) arrives in Marshall battle-tested and carrying offensive momentum. During the regular season, the Tigers proved they can challenge McMurry's backline. In their two meetings, ETBU earned a 5-0 home win on October 10 and a 4-1 decision in Abilene on October 17. Moreno scored McMurry's lone goal of the series, while ETBU's leading scorer, Joshua Daley (10 goals, 23 points), netted four goals against the War Hawks in Marshall. The Tiger defense is anchored by goalkeeper Ryan Lord, who recorded 71 saves and a 1.53 goals-against average this season.
To secure victory and advance, McMurry will look to dictate the tempo and pressure the Tiger defense. The War Hawks average 8.7 shots per match and must capitalize on those chances to overcome an ETBU squad that surrendered 1.59 goals per contest during the regular season. McMurry's defense must limit the scoring chances of Daley and Dylan Garcia, who recorded a hat trick against them on October 17. If McMurry sustains its attacking rhythm while Cabello keeps a strong defense in net, the team will be in prime position to reach Thursday's semifinal.
The winner advances to face No. 2-seeded Hardin-Simmons in the ASC semifinals on Thursday, November 5 at 7:30 p.m. at UMHB Soccer Field in Belton, Texas.
Admission is $10 for all spectators. ASC students are admitted free with a student ID, and children 5 and under are free. Fans can purchase tickets in advance online via:
