SHREVEPORT, La. – Centenary College took a 3-1 victory over McMurry University's men's soccer team to hand the War Hawks their ninth consecutive loss. The Gents scored with three different players and improved to 7-2 on the season.
John Finn scored his third goal of the season on a pass from Spencer Nickerson in the 13th minute to get the action started. Then, the eventual game winner was scored in the 44th minute when Marcos Rodriguez knocked home his sixth goal of the season unassisted.
With the score 2-0 at halftime in favor of Centenary, the Gents' John Seat scored his first goal of the season on an assist from Danny Haar.
McMurry managed its only goal on a penalty kick in the 90th minute as
Sheharyar Khan put in his second foal of the season. McMurry fired only six shots in the match while the Gents tallied 19.
The Centenary goalies Robbie Ramirez and Chase Duet combined for the victory but Ramirez was the goalkeeper on record for the win.
Zack Brewer saved six shots in the losing effort for McMurry.
The War Hawks take Friday off before returning to American Southwest Conference play Saturday in Belton against Mary Hardin-Baylor at 3 p.m.
