ABILENE, Texas - Schreiner scored two late second-half goals to shut out McMurry in the final regular season match of the season Saturday at Edwards Field. The Mountaineers' Jeremy Leoni scored in the 68th minute and Taylro Bontz added insurance with a goal in the 74th minute to leave McMurry winless in the American Southwest Conference for the second-straight season.

McMurry finished with a 2-12-3 overall record and a 0-10-3 mark in league play. The season started out promising with McMurry starting out at 2-1. Then, in the first four ASC matches, McMurry went 0-1-3 with plenty of time to make a move. However, after the third tie against UT-Tyler Sept. 26, McMurry dropped its final nine matches scoring just four goals over the stretch.

Saturday, Schreiner's defense held McMurry to just six shots with two on goal while the Mountaineers fired 32 and eight respectively. McMurry goalie Matt Mouer saved six shots before the Mountaineers were able to get two goals. Matt Johnson recorded the shutout for Schreiner with two saves from the goalie position.

Schreiner improved to 8-6-3 overall and 7-3-3 in league play and will move on to the ASC Postseason Tournament in Belton Thursday.

McMurry head coach Tim Grove said goodbye to his lone senior Logan Garza who recorded one of McMurry's two shots on goal Saturday and finished the season with three of McMurry's 14 goals and was second on the team with eight points.

“Logan's work rate is unparalleled, which makes him a great leader by example,” said Grove of Garza. “It will hurt us next year not to have hi as he is just beginning to scratch the surface as a top-level player. He has been invaluable to us this season.”
