Solis and Humphries Claim Gold on SCAC Opening Day

ABILENE, TX - The McMurry University War Hawks came out swinging on their home turf, establishing a commanding 28-point lead after the first day of the 2026 SCAC Conference Championships at Wilford Moore Stadium. On Friday, finals were conducted in the women's long jump and javelin throw field events.

McMurry's dominance in the field earned them two gold medals and an impressive total of 39 points after the first two scored events of the competition.

HIGHLIGHTS
The War Hawks dominated the long jump pit, taking two of the top three spots. Kasey Solis captured gold with a leap of 5.39m to earn 10 points for McMurry. Teammate Emily Jackson secured silver, hitting a mark of 5.31m for 8 points. Brenna Stell also contributed heavily to the team's opening-day success, placing fourth with a jump of 5.20m and bringing in 5 points.

Action was equally successful in the javelin throw. Kendra Humphries took top honors, launching the javelin 39.52m to claim another 10 points for the War Hawks. Tana Thomas finished strong to grab bronze, tossing the apparatus 32.53m and securing 6 points. Kyllysta Dawkings rounded out the scoring efforts for McMurry in the event, throwing for 27.83m to earn 1 point and an eighth-place finish.
