GARLAND, TX – The McMurry women continued their push through Day Two of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship on Thursday evening at the Garland ISD Natatorium, highlighted by strong individual efforts and another valuable relay showing from the War Hawks.
McMurry picked up key points in the women's 500 freestyle behind junior
Natalie Liles, who touched in 5:52.84 to place 16th overall and score 15 points for the War Hawks. Liles followed that performance by anchoring McMurry's 400 medley relay later in the session, helping the team close the night with another solid race.
Freshman Brooklynn Lizcano delivered one of the top individual swims of the day for McMurry, finishing eighth in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:21.40. Lizcano's placement earned 11 points and marked her best finish of the championship so far, continuing a strong first conference meet for the rookie.
Sophomore
Anna Nielsen contributed on the relay front, teaming with Liles, Lizcano, and junior
Mia Mendez in the 400 medley relay, where the War Hawks posted a time of 4:55.90. The quartet placed seventh in the championship final and added another 22 points to McMurry's team total.
Mendez closed out the relay with a determined freestyle leg, while also playing a steady role throughout the meet as one of McMurry's most reliable relay performers. Her experience on the back end helped stabilize the lineup as the War Hawks battled through a deep field of conference competition.
After Day Two, McMurry sits eighth in the women's standings with 60 points, continuing to build momentum heading into the final two days of racing.
