War Hawks Women Close Out Trinity Invitational with Final Day Grit

SAN ANTONIO, TX - The McMurry Women's Swimming team wrapped up the three-day Trinity University Tiger Invitational, showcasing endurance and determination against a deep field of competitors. The team finished the championship-style meet in 9th place overall, accumulating a total of 42 team points across all events.

Finals Action: Lizcano and Ryman Score Points

The War Hawks were once again paced by strong qualifying swims that secured spots in the Sunday finals.

  • 200 Yard Backstroke: Brooklynn Lizcano led the way, qualifying for the B-Final and finishing 12th overall with a time of 2:19.30. Teammate Nicole Ryman also qualified for the B-Final and touched 13th with a time of 2:28.88, demonstrating McMurry's strength in the backstroke events.

  • 100 Yard Freestyle: Natalie Liles swam a highly competitive race in the prelims (57.17), just missing the cut for the evening finals in the sprint event.

Endurance Challenge: The 1650 Yard Freestyle

The final day's most grueling event, the 1650 Yard Freestyle, saw two War Hawks put their training to the test, securing key points for the team:

  • Anna Nielsen finished the marathon event 18th overall, completing the race in 21:57.85.

  • Mia Mendez followed right behind, finishing 19th with a time of 22:53.50.

Relay Conclusion: Final 400 Free Effort

The Women's team concluded the Invitational in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay 'A' team. Natalie Liles, Nicole Ryman, Emilee Thompson, and Brooklynn Lizcano combined for a final time of 4:05.27, providing one last show of teamwork and competitive spirit to close out the successful weekend of racing.

The Trinity Invitational provided the War Hawks women with crucial mid-season experience, giving them the chance to compete in a preliminary/finals format and gauge their speed against top regional programs.

The War Hawks return home for their next meet against Austin College on Saturday, December 6, at 5:30 p.m. in the Phillips Family Center.
