ABILENE, TX – The McMurry University women's swimming team returned to the pool on Saturday, hosting the University of Texas of the Permian Basin for a competitive dual meet session. While the Falcons ultimately took the team victory with a score of 137-42, the War Hawks saw several strong individual performances and hard-fought races from their top swimmers.
Natalie Liles led the way for McMurry, securing high-impact points across multiple events. Liles earned a second-place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle, touching the wall in 2:11.09, just narrowly missing the top spot. She mirrored that success in the 100 Yard Freestyle, again placing second with a time of 1:03.60.
In the distance lanes,
Nicole Ryman showcased her endurance. Ryman battled through the 1000 Yard Freestyle to claim a third-place finish with a time of 13:16.69. She also contributed a fourth-place finish in the 100 Yard Backstroke, clocking in at 1:10.90.
Freshman Brooklynn Lizcano had a standout day in the shorter disciplines. Lizcano powered her way to a second-place finish in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:07.35. She also showed her versatility in the 200 Yard IM, where she placed third with a final time of 2:28.43.
Rounding out the top performers for the War Hawks,
Emilee Thompson provided consistent scoring in the sprint freestyle events. Thompson took fourth place in the 100 Yard Freestyle (1:05.76) and also secured a fourth-place finish in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 29.94.
The War Hawks closed the meet with a solid performance in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, where the team of Liles, Ryman, Thompson, and Lizcano posted a time of 4:15.20.
