McMurry University's football program has released its 2023 schedule.
Â
A robust five-game home slate spotlights the list. Fifth-year head coach
Jordan Neal's squad welcomes Lyon College of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics on Sept. 30; crosstown American Southwest Conference rival Hardin-Simmons on Oct. 7; Howard Payne University, another nearby league foe, Oct. 21; Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference member Austin College on Oct. 28; and one final loop competitor, Sul Ross State University, Nov. 11.
Â
All home contests, set inside Wilford Moore Stadium, are scheduled for 1 p.m. kickoffs, except the HSU clash, which begins at 6 p.m. The Cowboys-War Hawks battle is part of McMurry University's All-Century Team recognition. Continuing the special dates theme, Austin College is the Maroon and White's Homecoming opponent, and the clash with SRSU serves as Senior Day.
Â
The remainder of the campaign features five match-ups, too. It starts Friday, Sept. 1, with the season opener against Birmingham-Southern College at a site and time to be announced; a trip to Millsaps University of Mississippi Sept 9 for a 1 p.m. kickoff; league contests at Mary-Hardin-Baylor and East Texas Baptist on Sept. 23 and Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively; and a meeting at Texas Lutheran University Nov. 4 for a 1 p.m. start.
