PITTSBURG, Kan. – McMurry University Track & Field made its second trip in three weeks to Pittsburg State University – posting noteworthy results at the Seventh Annual Indoor Gorilla Classic in Kansas on Friday and Saturday.
After
Janeth Chacon set the new indoor 3000 meter run record two weeks ago at the same track, her sister
Jazmin Chacon broke it this weekend with a time of 10:40.93. Both sisters are in the West Region Top 10, with Jazmin in fifth and Janeth in ninth at 11:00.83. Janeth finished consistent with her time two weeks ago at 11:01.54 this weekend.
The War Hawks also added two more marks to the national rankings, with freshman
DonTre Sinegal recording a 13.80m mark in his triple jump debut to rank 41st nationally and first regionally. Sinegal is now ranked in two events – both the long and triple jumps. He joins
Jayden Sloan in the national rankings with his time in the 400 meter dash from the season opener.
The women also posted their first national ranking of the season, as the women's distance medley relay team of
Katelyn Hernandez,
Jacee Dinkins and the Chacon sisters finished with a time of 13:17.51. Their converted DMR time is 45th nationally and second in the region.
Overall, McMurry now has 28 times or marks in the regional rankings on the men's side, while the women have 20.
McMurry competed alongside 63 schools from across all levels – including NCAA Division I teams such as Nebraska, Tulsa and Arkansas State, among others. Fellow American Southwest Conference school East Texas Baptist also had entries in the meet.

He was also on the 4x400 team that finished at 3:24.19 along with Sloan, Walton and Caleb Kwiatkowski, edging out conference rival ETBU by less than a second.
