RICHARDSON, TEXAS - Second team accolades for sophomore linebacker
Herman Lee (Prosper, Texas) and senior placekicker
Jared Mendoza (Fort Worth, Texas) headlined nine All-American Southwest Conference postseason awards for the 2022 McMurry University football team.
Â
The all-league lists were released Thursday, Nov. 17.
Â
Lee, earning his first all-ASC achievement, and Mendoza, picking up his second all-conference selection, were record-setters for head coach
Jordan Neal's squad. Lee's nine-and-a-half sacks made him the new single-season leader, while Mendoza set a new career-made field goal mark (23) and tied the single-season record (nine).
Joining the duo on the top three all-conference groups were senior offensive guard
Ryan Miller (Mesquite, Texas) and junior offensive tackle
Donovan Valdez (Lancaster, Texas), who were third-team offensive honorees, and senior defensive lineman
Devin Nixon (Vidor, Texas) who was placed on the third team defense. Nixon and Valdez were each first-time awardees, while Miller registered his second all-ASC notation. A trio of McMurry players was on the honorable mention section in the form of senior running back
Rajan Cunningham (Dallas, Texas), junior return specialist
Kristopher Martin (El Paso, Texas), and sophomore defensive back
Timothy Leatherman (Ingram, Texas). Martin was an all-loop pick for a second time.
The American Southwest Conference also announced its Outstanding Sportsman unit. Senior tight end
Reagan Sullivan (Fort Worth, Texas) represented the Maroon, Black, and White.
McMurry's eight playing all-conference honors marked the fourth straight season they've had seven-or-more scholar-athletes recognized. The complete 2022 all-ASC football release can be viewed at
