ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University Softball returns to Edwards Field for American Southwest Conference play this weekend against Louisiana College, with a change to the schedule due to field conditions.
After rain fell over the Abilene area this week, the series has been moved back a day, with the doubleheader now taking place Saturday and the series final Sunday. Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 2 p.m., while Sunday's single game has a first pitch of noon.
In a related move, Monday's nonconference doubleheader at Schreiner University has also been postponed. The date and time of the rescheduled games will be announced at a later date.

NOTES:
LAST WEEK: McMurry took two out of three games in its first road trip of the season at UT Dallas last weekend. The War Hawks won the first two games 14-8 and 7-5 before dropping the finale, 5-4.
HOT START: The 8-2, 5-1 start for McMurry is the best in the short history of the program. McM started its first two seasons 2-8 and 5-5 through the first 10 games.
COMEBACK KIDS: The War Hawks trailed in all three games last week. McM erased a 6-0 deficit in game one with 11 runs in the fourth inning, and scored six times in the sixth inning of game two to come back from down 5-0.
IN A PINCH: Junior outfielder Maisa Ryerson came off the bench to hit two home runs last week. She highlighted the 11-run fourth inning with a pinch-hit three-run homer, then came off the bench in game three to hit a two-run homer as McM tried to rally in the seventh inning.
FEELING GRAND: Junior second baseman Savannah Flinn hit a go-ahead grand slam in the sixth inning of game two that gave McM a 6-5 lead. It is the second grand slam of the season for McMurry, the first being Mikayla Krause's walk off against Ozarks.
AT THE PLATE: Flinn and junior catcher each lead McM with three home runs, and Flinn has a team-high 10 RBIs. Five players are batting above .300, led by senior first baseman Eva Pourcio at .500. McM is hitting .324 as a team.
IN THE CIRCLE: Senior pitcher Hope Schoeneman sports a 2-0 record and 2.14 ERA through three starts for the War Hawks. Out of the bullpen, junior Bekah Chance has a 0.81 ERA in 8.2 innings of relief and one save.
SCOUTING LC: Louisiana College is an even 7-7, 2-4 ASC entering this weekend's series. They are riding a three-game winning streak after winning the series against Concordia and sweeping a doubleheader against Hendrix. Third baseman Kaitlyn Moore leads the Wildcats with 10 RBIs and is batting .486 on the year. Bailey McMillian has a 3.26 ERA in the circle, but just a 2-5 record.
THE SERIES: The Wildcats and War Hawks are tied 3-3 after two seasons. LC took two out of three in 2018, while the War Hawks won two of the three games in 2019, with McM winning the finale on a walk-off grand slam by Krause.
