CANYON, Texas - For the second time this season, McMurry will make the trek to West Texas A&M University's Kimbrough Memorial Stadium to face the Buffaloes.
This is the 23rd meeting between WTAMU and McMurry on the gridiron, The Buffs lead the all-time series by a 13-8-1 margin and have won the past five meetings. The last time McMurry beat the Buffs was in 1954 (19-18).
Back on October 4 in Canyon, McMurry University's football team put on an offensive show in a loss to West Texas A&M University, 56-21, in a game played a Kimbrough Memorial Stadium. The two teams combined for better than 1,000 yards of total offense – 510 for McM and 537 for WTAMU – for the second consecutive year. That total paled in comparison to last year's record-setting 1,400 yards between the clubs, but it still gave the crowd of 10,592 plenty of entertainment. McM's
Jeret Smith had 10 catches for 203 yards, his highest single-game receiving yardage total as a War Hawk.
West Texas A&M has amassed a record of 5-4 overall and 4-3 within the LSC. However, a recent five-game "nullification" penalty affected WTAMU's LSC percentage (but not their actual W/L record) and left the Buffs in the bottom tier of the Conference's playoff system.
McMurry opened its year with a win at NCAA Division I foe Houston Baptist University (26-17) and then, after a bye week, lost on the road at Angelo State (45-14). McM bounced back to upset Texas A&M-Kingsville in the War Hawks' first home game of the year, 27-21. Since then, McM has five-consecutive losses at West Texas A&M University (56-21), at home to Eastern New Mexico (62-23), at Midwestern State (71-13), home versus Tarleton State (64-7) and at Texas A&M-Commerce (13-91).
The game can be heard live in the Abilene area on KSLI 1280 AM, with the pre-game show beginning at 5:40 p.m. Fans can also listen via the McMurry Sports Network audio links at
