ODESSA, Texas – McMurry dropped both the men's and women's contests in a season-opening dual meet versus UT-Permian Basin on Saturday. The Falcons won the women's event, 112-62, and took the men's competition, 143-58.
The McMurry women won both the 200 yard medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay, utilizing the same four competitors: newcomer
Robyn Remschel, along with vets;
Kelly McNamee,
Samantha Spain and
Kelsey Frazier. The War Hawks posted a time of 2:02.17 in the medley and a 1:50.07 in the freestyle relay.
Remschel also garnered McM's lone individual victory in the 100 backstroke in a time of 1:01.96. McNamee was second in the same event at 1:03.93.
Spain was third in both the 50 freestyle (28.05) and the 100 breaststroke (1:21.72). Freshman
Amber Garrett earned a third in the 200 freestyle (2:07.98) in her first McM competition.
On the men's half, the quartet of
David Bowers, Kameron Salinas, Vincent Crosby and
Kent Grimes won the 200 medley relay. The group touched at 1:40.76 minutes.
Sophomore
Cameron Mills was the War Hawk men's lone individual winner, taking the 50 freestyle at a time of 23.18 seconds. Grimes was second in the 100 backstroke (56.66) and Crosby third in the 100 butterfly (55.61).
Salinas grabbed a pair of third place finishes in the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke (1:05.75).
