DALLAS, Texas – The McMurry University men's soccer team picked up its first victory of the season as it used three first half tallies to defeat Dallas Christian, 3-0, on Tuesday evening.
Senior captain
Tyler Tarango got the War Hawks on the board in the eighth minute of play as he used a free kick opportunity to beat the keeper from the top of the box to make the score 1-0.
Eight minutes later,
James Ness was able to capitalize on a beautiful corner kick by
Jordan Miller in the 16
th minute for his second goal of the season and McMurry's second of the game to make the score 2-0. Then in the 35
th minute, Miller registered his second assist of the game as he hit
Desmond Williams on a cross and Williams found the back of the net for his first career goal and the 3-0 lead. The teams would go into the half with the same score.
The War Hawk defense stood strong in the second half of play, as neither team scored a goal in the half and McMurry took the victory 3-0.
For McMurry, all four players that scored in the game had at least two points. Tarango, Ness, and Williams all scored one goal and Miller notched two assists.
The War Hawks will be back in action when they return home on Saturday, September 15 to take on Wayland Baptist University. The contest at Edwards Field is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
