McMurry continues hot start moving to 4-0 with 99-74 victory over UTT

ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University scored 55 points in the second half to take a 99-74 victory in American Southwest Conference play Monday night in Kimbrell Arena. Dominick Walker dominated the boards in his double-double performance recording 11 rebounds and 19 points.  
 
McMurry recorded 37-second chance points in the contest on 22 offensive boards. The team shot 50 percent from the floor and was 16-23 from the line.  Five War hawks recorded double digit points in the contest; Anthony Johnson (11), Steven Jones (13), Bryce Hill (16), Jaden Isler (16), and Walker's (19).  Jones added 10 rebounds on the night. Hill and Isler each recorded five assists.
 
McMurry never trailed in the game jumping out to a 7-2 lead in the first two minutes of the match and never looking back. The War Hawks grabbed their biggest lead of the first half with 6:24 remaining. Isler hit a three point bucket with the assist  coming from Johnson making the score 33-26. The Patriots pulled the game to one point with 40 seconds remaining. After a missed War Hawks jumper Bryce Hill took an Isler pass and drained the buzzer beating shot taking a 44-40 lead into the half.
 
With the score 72-61 in favor of the War Hawks McMurry recorded a 20-7 run ending with a three point play by Brock Kimball and 2:15 left on the clock. In the second half McMurry recorded 30 points in the paint and 28 points coming from the bench.
 
The War Hawks 99-74 victory continues their hot start moving them to 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in ASC play. The loss drops UTT to 1-3 on the year and 0-2 in conference action. McMurry hits the road for the first time this season to face University of the Ozarks Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Clarksville, Arkansas.
