Jalen Cherry, the McMurry War Hawks unleashed their most explosive offensive outing of the season to defeat the University of Dallas, 110-92, on Saturday afternoon.
The victory was headlined by a historic milestone for
Jalen Cherry. Entering the game on the verge of the record books, Cherry officially surpassed 500 career rebounds, cementing his legacy as one of the most dominant forces on the glass in program history. He didn't just stop at the milestone; he finished the game with a massive double-double, racking up 34 points and 11 rebounds. Cherry was a man possessed, shooting 12-of-21 from the floor and a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line. His ability to control the paint and facilitate—adding four assists and two steals—provided the backbone for the 18-point win.
Jordan Malveaux provided the ultimate spark off the bench, delivering an incredibly efficient 21 points in just 14 minutes. Malveaux was perfect from beyond the arc (3-for-3) and missed only two shots the entire afternoon. His instant scoring allowed McMurry to push the pace and keep the Crusaders from ever finding a defensive rhythm.
Amari Leflore rounded out the top performers, playing a vital role in both the scoring and defensive effort. Leflore knocked down three triples on his way to 15 points and was a pest on the defensive end, leading the team with three steals. His intensity in the transition game helped McMurry turn defensive stops into quick points, contributing to the team's 22 fast-break points.
