ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University's men lost 2-0 in a rainy contest Friday evening to the University of the Ozarks at Edwards Field. Despite out-shooting the Eagles 15-14, McMurry was unable to find the net for the fifth time this season.
After more than an hour rain delay, the Eagles' Guido Salas scored in the 35th minute when a cross to the box was deflected off the Eagles Josh Duncan head and then Salas used a header of his own to beat McMurry goalie
Matt Mouer.
The Ozarks second goal came in the 44th minute of the match when Salas scored on his second header off a cross from Tanner Holman and put it in the lower right corner past Mouer.
McMurry's six shots on goal came up empty while the Eagles landed only five, but two went in the net. The wet conditions didn't halt physical play as the teams combined for 29 total fouls and four yellow cards.
McMurry dropped to 0-8 overall on the season and will take on the Comets of UT-Dallas Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. at Edwards Field.
