Colorado College drops McMurry to 0-5 with 2-0 victory

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The McMurry University men's soccer team lost to Colorado College in a 2-0 match Saturday afternoon at Stewart Field. McMurry left Colorado Springs, Colo. empty handed with Penn State-Behrend and Colorado College each taking 2-0 victories over McMurry.

McMurry goalie David Fisher, made his season debut, kept the game close, and recorded four saves in the first half to keep the scored tied at zero heading into intermission.

However, the Tigers we able to put one past the McMurry goalie when freshman Andrew Salazar took a pass from Chris Lutz and put it in the back of the net from 10 yards out in the 59th minute of the match.

Colorado College's second goal came in the 66th minute when Matt Fechter took a free kick from just beyond the box that went off of the hands of Fisher hitting the post and then finding the back of the net.

Colorado College out shot McMurry 26-8 with only one of McMurry's shots being on goal. McMurry had opportunities in the second half when they had five corner kicks compared to the Tigers two.

Fisher took the loss for McMurry and moves to 0-1 on the season while Tiger goalie Andy McGhie evens his season record at 2-2.

Overall, McMurry dropped to 0-5 on the season. McMurry opens conference play against the University of Texas at Tyler in Tyler at 5 p.m.
