Anding, Brown reach milestones in senior day sweep of Sul Ross State

Sarah Anding reached her 2,000th career dig Saturday morning in a sweep over Sul Ross State
ABILENE, Texas – McMurry already knew going into Saturday's match that it would be headed into the American Southwest Conference Postseason Tournament as the No. 3 seed from the west division. However, with one regular season game to play, it was senior day and two of McMurry's seniors recorded milestones at Sarah Anding recorded her 2,000th career dig and Terah Brown had her 1,000th career kill in McMurry's sweep of Sul Ross State.

McMurry took the match 25-10, 25-22, 25-16 to finish the regular season at 16-9 overall and 13-5 in league play. The Lobos finished 1-25 overall and 0-18 in conference play.

Brown needed seven kills Saturday to reach 1,000 and she got the milestone in the third set to a standing ovation before head coach Cammie Petree removed her from the game with the match out of reach. Brown was already McMurry's all-time blocks leader through 2009 and continues to add to that total making her record more unreachable for future McMurry players.

Anding had become McMurry's all-time digs leader earlier in the season passing Danielle Bolin's career mark of 1,847 Oct. 7. The senior libero needed 11 in the match and had 12 through the second set of the match to surpass the 2,000-mark; she finished the match with a game-high 24 digs.

Mandie Moore was the team's third senior honored Saturday, and she made her contributions as well with seven kills and four blocks in the victory. Moore has compiled more than 400 kills in her four-year career.

All three seniors have been four-year players for the McMurry program playing the 2007 season for head coach Jason McAden and the past three seasons for Petree.

McMurry hit .195 for the match Saturday with Brown and M.J. Vickers leading the offensive attack with eight kills apiece. McMurry out-blocked Sul Ross 11-5 and held the Lobos to a negative .048 hitting percentage.

McMurry will head to Seguin as Texas Lutheran hosts the tournament. McMurry will take on East Texas Baptist for the fourth consecutive year in the ASC Quarterfinals. McMurry took wins in 2007 and 2009 over the Tigers to reach the semi-finals. The match time has yet to be determined.
