Terah Brown tallied 31 kills and 19 blocks at the ASC Crossover Tournament this weekend in Round Rock
ROUND ROCK – McMurry's offense came alive this weekend at the American Southwest Conference Volleyball Crossover Tournament on the campus of Concordia-Texas as McMurry took all three matches to move to 13-7 overall on the season.

Friday night McMurry took a nail-biter in four sets over Mary-Hardin Baylor. After losing the first set 25-23, McMurry took the next two sets in extra time taking set two 27-25 and set three 31-29 before closing out the match with a 25-19 win in set four.

Bailey Marcum recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 21 digs and four other players had double-digit kills. Terah Brown had 12, Bennie Smith added 11 while M.J. Vickers and Mandie Moore each had 10. Jasmine Qualls paced McMurry's offensive effort with 52 assists and the team hit .256.

Saturday McMurry swept both Mississippi College and UT-Tyler in three sets. McMurry beat the Choctaws 25-15, 25-22, 25-17 and then took down the Patriots 25-21, 25-12, 25-23.

McMurry hit .333 against Mississippi College with Brown's 14 kills and seven blocks leading the way. Marcum had 11 kills and 10 digs for another double-double and Qualls had 39 assists.

Against UT-Tyler, McMurry hit a season-high .380 as a team paced by Vickers who hit an extraordinary .750 with 12 kills and no attacking errors on 16 attempts. Brown also had seven blocks for the second-straight match to lead the McMurry defense. Anding had 55 digs over the three-match weekend.

The victories marked the sixth-straight for the McMurry team and head coach Cammie Petree said that the team had a great weekend.

“The girls dug deep, hung in there and got job done in a tough match against UMHB and then just kept it going into Saturday,” said Petree. “I was proud with their persistence this weekend. We had several not feeling well and some minor injuries, but they came together and worked hard. I was very impressed with that; their execution was better than it had been as evidenced by our hitting percentage.”

McMurry takes on ASC West Division leading Hardin-Simmons at the Cowgirls' Mabee Complex Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
