SEGUIN – The Lady Bulldogs wanted a dogfight, and they got one. Unfortunately for Texas Lutheran, the youthful Lady Bulldogs fell to McMurry on its home floor 82-58 at Memorial Gymnasium Thursday night.
McMurry, who was trailing TLU by 2.5 games in the American Southwest Conference standings entering the game, climbed a game closer in the standings improving to 5-4 in league play. The win was not only the fifth-straight for the team, but the first road win of the season and the team moved to 8-5 overall.

Amanda Peters led the way with 14 points on a 5 of 6 shooting effort.
LaPorsha Alexander added 13 points off the bench,
Anna Berthel scored a dozen while
Kelsey Lindemuth and
Rikeita Thomas had 10 points apiece.
The first half proved to be extremely competitive as the teams exchanged leads several times in the early going. However, McMurry closed with a defensive surge and led 41-33 at halftime. Then in the second half, the visitors took over and limited the Lady Bulldogs to just 25 second-half points.
Although both teams had trouble with the others' defensive pressure, TLU got the worst surrendering 27 turnovers of the evening. McMurry had 22 turnovers on its own end, however, the defense was able to hold TLU to just 51 total shots compared to McMurry's 69.
In its second-best shooting effort of the season, McMurry shot 44 percent (30-69) while TLU finished at 47 percent (24-51). McMurry also dominated the glass taking the rebound battle 48-27. Twenty-seven of McMurry's rebounds also came on the offensive end.
Kimberly Hagan led all scorers in the losing effort for the Lady Bulldogs. The sophomore guard had 15 points on 4 of 11 shooting and shot 7 of 9 from the free-throw line. Candace Mitchell made all five of her field goal attempts and finished with 10 points. Tamisha Timpson had an all-around game for TLU scoring nine points, grabbing eight rebounds, she dished five assists and had two blocks.
McMurry returns to action Saturday in Kerrville when it plays Schreiner who will enter the contest with an 0-13 overall record and a 0-9 mark in the ASC.
