SUWANEE, GA - Aryana Cleveland, a senior on the women's basketball from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Character & Community Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week beginning February 16.
The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.
"Being a part of this community as an athlete is something special because everyone is pouring into you," Cleveland said of the Abilene community and the ability to give back as an athlete, "and to able to go out and do something not for yourself, but for someone else."
"Aryana is the kind of player that every coach hopes to have in their program," said head women's basketball coach Laura Lange. "On the court, she competes with confidence, toughness, and a team-first mindset that elevates everyone around her. She understands that success isn't just about individual stats; it's about doing the little things, encouraging her teammates, and showing up consistently with heart and discipline."
Aryana has been a key member of the women's basketball team for the past four years demonstrating leadership and hard work on and off the court.
Coach Lange went on to add, "Her impact goes far beyond basketball. She gives back to her team and community with humility and genuine care, always willing to serve, and leading by example. Her character, work ethic, and selflessness reflect the values of our program, and she leaves a positive mark everywhere she goes. She's not only a special player, but more importantly, she's an even better person."
