War Hawks Fight to the Finish in SCAC Tournament Appearance

CONWAY, AR – McMurry traveled to Grove Gymnasium on Friday afternoon for the first round of the conference tournament, falling 84-68 to Hendrix College. The matchup was a high-stakes battle that saw five lead changes as both teams fought for a spot in the next round.

The War Hawks came out with intensity, outscoring the Warriors 16-14 in the opening period. McMurry's defense remained active throughout, forcing 15 turnovers and converting those into 13 points. The War Hawks also owned the paint for much of the night, scoring 38 points inside and utilizing 15 second-chance points. Despite the early momentum, Hendrix used a strong second quarter to take control. McMurry continued to push until the final buzzer, matching the Warriors in transition with 13 fast-break points.

Helana Chadwick led the scoring for the War Hawks, finishing with 18 points. Chadwick was a vital playmaker, recording seven assists and knocking down two three-pointers. On the defensive end, she remained a constant threat, tallying two steals during her 35 minutes of action.

Aryana Cleveland delivered a powerhouse performance on the boards, recording a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Cleveland was relentless on the glass, pulling down six offensive rebounds to give the War Hawks extra possessions. She also anchored the interior defense with a blocked shot.

Jordan Bravo showcased incredible stamina, playing all 40 minutes of the tournament contest. Bravo finished with 10 points and was a key facilitator, distributing five assists. She made her presence felt on the defensive end as well, leading the team with two blocks and adding two steals to her all-around stat line.
