ABILENE, TX – McMurry defeated Concordia (TX), 66-57, Friday evening at Kimbrell Arena. The War Hawks utilized a high-powered transition game and adaptable defense to secure the win in front of the home crowd.
McMurry established its dominance on the fast break, outscoring Concordia 19-5 in transition. This speed, combined with a defense that forced 15 turnovers, allowed the War Hawks to maintain control throughout the contest. The War Hawks also flexed their strengths on the glass, winning the rebounding battle 42-32, including 13 critical offensive boards that led to 13 second-chance points.
Helena Chadwick led the scoring attack with 19 points, including a pair of three-pointers, while playing all 40 minutes of the contest. Chadwick was a force on both ends of the floor, contributing seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals to the winning effort.
Jordan Bravo provided a major spark from the perimeter, totaling 13 points in the victory. Bravo was perfect from the free-throw line, going 5-for-5, and added two three-pointers to the offensive total. On the defensive end, she secured six rebounds and dished out two assists, helping facilitate the McMurry offense during key stretches of the game.
Aryana Cleveland rounded out the top performers with a physical 13-point performance. She tied for the team lead in rebounds with seven and recorded two steals. Cleveland was aggressive in the paint throughout the night, drawing enough contact to finish 5-of-8 from the free-throw line.
The War Hawks will wrap up a great conference schedule as they host their final home game at Kimbrell Arena. The program will celebrate Senior Night, honoring the veterans who have been instrumental to the team's success this year before heading into the postseason.
