SCAC Announces 2026 Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Postseason Awards

SUWANEE, GA -- Following a vote by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) head coaches and sports information directors, the conference office today announced the recipients of the 2026 Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field postseason awards. McMurry University headlined the announcements, securing top individual athlete honors for both programs and sweeping the Men's and Women's Staff-of-the-Year accolades.

Men's Track Athlete-of-the-Year: Kamryn Cleveland
Kamryn Cleveland, a sophomore from Springtown, Texas, put together an outstanding 2026 campaign to become the first athlete in McMurry program history to earn SCAC Track Athlete-of-the-Year honors. En route to being named SCAC Male Athlete-of-the-Meet for the second consecutive year—making him just the sixth athlete in SCAC T&F history to do so—Cleveland secured four individual All-SCAC honors at the April championships:

  • 200-Meter Dash: Won gold after setting a new SCAC meet record in the prelims (20.87) and breaking the tape in the finals at 20.91. He is the first champion in SCAC history to break 21 seconds in the event and the fourth to win back-to-back titles.
  • Long Jump: Took the top of the podium with a gold-medal leap of 7.08m.
  • 100-Meter Dash: Earned a second-place finish crossing at 10.48.
  • 110-Meter Hurdles: Earned a second-place finish clocking in at 14.76.

On the national stage, Cleveland finished 21st overall in the 200-meters at the 2026 NCAA Division III National Championships, crossing the line in 21.93.

Women's Field Athlete-of-the-Year: Kendra Humpries
Kendra Humpries, a junior from College Station, Texas, concluded a stellar season by becoming the first McMurry women's track athlete in program history to earn SCAC Women's Field Athlete-of-the-Year. She is also the first athlete in SCAC history to repeat as conference champion in both the shot put and javelin. Her 2026 highlights include:

  • Shot Put: Defended her SCAC title with a winning, conference-record toss of 13.39m, making her the first woman in SCAC history to break 43 feet. At the National Championship last month, she tossed 13.57m to secure an eighth-place finish, becoming the first female athlete in SCAC history to earn All-American honors in the event.
  • Javelin: Defended her SCAC title with a winning toss of 39.53m. She later secured 19th place at the NCAA Championships with a toss of 39.94m.
Men's and Women's Track & Field Staff-of-the-Year: McMurry University
Led by eighth-year head coach Cody Knight, the McMurry University coaching staff was voted as both the Men's and Women's Track & Field Staff-of-the-Year following a historic sweep at the 2026 SCAC Track & Field Championships in April.

  • Men's Program: The McMurry staff earned their second straight Staff-of-the-Year accolade after guiding the men's team to their second consecutive SCAC Men's Track & Field title. The team dominated the field, picking up seven individual victories and 14 medals overall.
  • Women's Program: Coach Knight and his staff earned the Women's Staff-of-the-Year recognition for the first time in program history. This honor follows a landmark season that culminated with the War Hawks capturing their first-ever SCAC Women's Track & Field Championship.
