SUWANEE, GA - Nine Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference programs were recognized by the league as Spring 2026 Sportsmanship Teams in their respective sports.
The SCAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee instituted the award prior to the 2016-17 academic year in an effort to honor the team that best portrays good sportsmanship and fair play from the players and coaches during the season. The spring awards are presented in baseball, men's and women's golf, softball, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's track and field.
Colorado College,
Concordia University (Tex.) and
Texas Lutheran University paced the league with two spring programs earning accolades, while
Austin College,
Hendrix College and
McMurry University all collected one honor each.
Hendrix claimed top honors in baseball for the first time in program history, with Concordia finishing second and Austin College placing third.
In golf,
Concordia captured the team sportsmanship honor for the first time in program history on the men's side. The Tornados are just the fifth program in league history to win the honor and third program since 2020. Concordia was the top choice with Texas Lutheran finishing second and Austin College earning third.
For the women,
Texas Lutheran top honors after claiming third last year. This marks the first time in league history the Bulldogs have secured the top honor in golf and the first time since 2023 one institution has not swept the awards. Schreiner University secured second in the balloting, while University of St. Thomas claimed third.
Concordia collected top honors in softball for the first time in program history. The Tornados are the sixth different program in the last six years to be recognized. Last year's winner, University of the Ozarks, finished second and Centenary was voted third.
In men's tennis,
Colorado College was voted the top spot for the second time in program history. The Tigers last won the award in 2018. CC edged out Austin College who finished second and McMurry in third. On the women's side,
Austin College and
Texas Lutheran shared first place for the second consecutive year, followed by Colorado College in third. It marks the third time in the last four years and SCAC women's tennis record sixth time (2018, 2019, 2021, 2023, 2025, 2026) in program history for the 'Roos to earn this prestigious honor, while it marks the second time (2025) in program history for the Bulldogs to be recognized.
McMurry won top honors in men's track and field for the second consecutive year. The War Hawks join TLU as the only program to win consecutive honors after the Bulldogs won the award three straight years from 2022-2024. McMurry was followed in the voting by LeTourneau in second and Colorado College and Centenary tied for third.
In women's track,
Colorado College secured top honors for the second-straight year and fourth time in program history, edging out McMurry and Texas Lutheran. CC is the only program in women's track history to be recognized four different times, previously winning in 2017, 2021 and 2025.

The awards were voted on by each member institution's SAAC, with each individual group ranking the top three teams in each sport. The first place selections were awarded five points, second place earned three points and third place earned one point. Points were then totaled to select the conference's overall winner.
