Setting the Standard: Brown Breaks SCAC Record as McMurry Takes Lead

ABILENE, TX - The McMurry University War Hawks have taken a commanding lead after the first day of the 2026 SCAC Conference Championships. Friday's field events, held at Wilford Moore Stadium, saw the men's team pull ahead with a 13-point advantage after just two scored events.

McMurry earned two golds on the day and secured multiple podium finishes to set the tone for the rest of the weekend.

HIGHLIGHTS:
In the men's javelin throw, Bruce Brown dominated the competition to take top honors, launching the apparatus 62.18 meters. This incredible toss not only scored 10 points for the War Hawks but also set a brand new McMurry program record and SCAC record.

Teammate Jordan Raschke kept the momentum going in the javelin, earning a third-place finish with a throw of 53.60 meters to add 6 points to the team's total.

Over in the sand pit, Kamryn Cleveland continued McMurry's dominance by securing gold in the men's long jump. Cleveland posted a winning leap of 7.08 meters on his first attempt to claim 10 points.

Evan Garcia also contributed heavily in the long jump, taking the bronze with a mark of 6.75 meters, giving the War Hawks another 6 points.
