SUWANEE, GA - For the second straight week, the SCAC has honored a McMurry defensive player as the SCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week for games played Saturday, September 13th. This week, sophomore linebacker Zach Mitchell from Fort Worth, Texas, has been tabbed.

Mitchell led the War Hawks with a career-best 12 tackles against #6 Hardin-Simmons while adding .5 sack and a QB hurry. The War Hawks clawed back in the second half in a 24-19 loss as the defense held the Cowboys scoreless in the second half.

This is Mitchell's second time earning SCAC Defensive Player of the Week after being named the week 8 recipient during the 2024 season.
