ABILENE, TX – The McMurry War Hawks women's basketball team delivered a dominant performance at Kimbrell Arena on Saturday afternoon, defeating Trinity University 93-69 to remain undefeated on the season (3-0). The victory was built on exceptional outside shooting, tenacious rebounding, and high-volume scoring, with the War Hawks controlling the momentum for almost the entire contest.
From the tip-off, McMurry established itself as the aggressor. After a tight opening few minutes that saw eight total lead changes and ties, the War Hawks seized the advantage late in the first half and never looked back, quickly extending the margin to double digits early in the second half.
The defining factor in the dominant win was McMurry's sharp shooting, especially from deep. The team finished the game shooting an impressive 46.2% (12-of-26) from beyond the arc. This offensive consistency, combined with sheer hustle on the glass, resulted in a massive 27-11 advantage in second-chance points, effectively burying any chance of a Trinity comeback. McMurry achieved its largest lead of the game at 27 points in the final quarter.
The victory was comprehensive, showcasing strength in multiple facets: dominating the paint 40-30, winning the assist battle 19-9, and pulling down 55 total rebounds to Trinity's 30.
