Fink to Head Up Athletics Communications

ABILENE – McMurry University Athletics announced Monday the hire of Ray Fink as director of athletics communications.

The communications team also brings back Chase Le Blanc as an assistant. Le Blanc will primarily be responsible for operations and McMurry's new live stream through Flo Sports.

"We want to tell the stories of War Hawk athletes and I am excited about Ray's expertise," said Larry Dockery, McMurry director of athletics. "He has a lot of experience and attributes that can take us to new heights."

Fink is a 30-year college sports information professional with previous stops at Oklahoma Baptist, Northwest (Wash.) and Abilene Christian. He has worked at NAIA and NCAA Division I and II institutions.

"This is an exciting new chapter for me and I'm so thankful that Larry Dockery was willing to take a chance on me," Fink said. "There are scores of good stories to tell at McMurry and I'm ready to dig into that trove."

Fink's award-winning career has included writing and publication awards from the Georgia Press Association, the Oklahoma College Public Relations Association and the NAIA. He also received the NAIA's Ike Pearson Award, a once-in-a-lifetime honor recognizing overall excellence and contributions to the profession.

The new director is no stranger to Abilene. He graduated from Cooper High School in 1981. He first came to the Key City when his father was assigned to Dyess Air Force Base in the early 1970s and again later in that decade after the family retired to Abilene.

After graduating from Cooper, Fink received a degree in journalism from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1985. After working in sports at two newspapers for eight years, he started as sports information director at OBU and stayed there for 25 years. He then worked at Northwest for four years and ACU for 18 months.

Fink is married to Pam Fink, who for 30 years was a college softball head coach. They have two adult children – Fletcher Davis and Collin Fink – and three grandchildren. The Finks are members of Southwest Park Baptist Church and reside in Abilene.

Le Blanc ran the communications department for McMurry on his own for most of 2023-24 and was asked to return this summer. He brings experience and institutional knowledge to the communications team.

"I'm glad to keep Chase here," Dockery said. "He knows McMurry and I'm just excited about his future."

LeBlanc, who spent three years in the U.S. Army, served a year as the interim SID at McMurry. He expects to complete his college degree in sports administration from Louisiana in May 2025.

LeBlanc also is an assistant coach with the War Hawks tennis teams.

"Having someone like Chase here is very beneficial to our department," Fink said. "He understands all the fine details of how things work here."

LeBlanc and his wife, Kelsey, have two sons – Easton and Cameron – and are expecting a daughter, Lainey, in August.
