ABILENE, TX— McMurry University Athletics announces that Mark Jedow has resigned as head coach of the men's and women's swimming and diving programs to spend more time with his family.

Athletic Director Susan Decker addressed Jedow's departure, stating, "While I'm happy for him to be able to spend more time with his family, I'm sad for McMurry. In the short time I've been here, Mark has been a joy to visit with, and I know he will be deeply missed."

Jedow joined McMurry in August 2023, bringing 26 seasons of experience as a highly accomplished high school and USA Swimming club coach in the San Antonio area. He previously mentored a national public school record holder, a 2008 Olympic Trials semifinalist, and multiple state champions, and effectively applied this expertise at the NCAA Division III level.

During his tenure, the War Hawks experienced tremendous success both in the pool and in the classroom. Under Jedow's guidance, McMurry swimmers broke nine school records and claimed 10 Conference Swimmer of the Week honors. His leadership propelled the programs to new heights within the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). In 2024, both the men's and women's teams secured fourth-place finishes. He continued to build on that momentum, culminating in a gritty performance at the 2026 SCAC Championships where the men's team secured an impressive third-place overall finish.

Jedow was committed to developing scholar-athletes. The program consistently earned CSCAA Scholar All-America honors, maintained strong team grade point averages, and placed many swimmers on the SCAC Winter Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll.

Jedow's expertise also shone on the global stage when he served as head coach for Team USA Deaf Swimming at the 2025 Deaflympics in Tokyo. Leading the national squad to the top medal honors of any participating nation, he set an international standard of excellence that enriched the competitive culture within the McMurry program upon his return.
