CANYON, Texas – McMurry University Track & Field continued its race to the 2022 NCAA Division III Championships with the WT Last Chance Meet hosted by West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas on Sunday.
Freshman jumper
DonTre Sinegal was the biggest beneficiary of the meet for McMurry, setting a new personal record of 14.74 meters with a 2.1 wind reading to move into the national Top 20. He's currently ranked 11th in the nation. Sinegal went over his PR in four of his six attempts for a stellar performance.
Christian Morales also represented the 2022 ASC Champion War Hawks by moving up in the men's javelin with a new best of 55.87 meters. He finish second at the meet and ranks 39th nationally.
RESULTS
Track Highlights:
- Justin DeLeon ran a new personal best in the 400 meter hurdles at 54.92, which ranks just outside the national Top 50.
- Jazmin Chacon ran a time of 5:01.74 in the women's 1500 to finish second, sandwiched between two hopefuls from Southern Nazarene. He season-best remains 4:52.57 set in East Texas.
- Abram Maldonado ran the men's 800 and had a time of 1:58.14 to finish fifth. His season-best remains 1:55.97.
- Griffin Gayler ran a 49.69 in the men's 400 to finish 5th, missing his personal best of 48.97 set last week at the ASC Championships. He finished fourth in that event.
Field Highlights:
- Coming off her American Southwest Conference championship in the women's discus, junior Ellie Ryan set a new personal record in that event with a 38.11m throw.
- In the men's hammer, freshman Reagan Owen tossed an even 52.00m to lead McMurry's trio of conference podium finishers. His best remains 52.16m, which won him the ASC men's hammer championship last weekend. Sutton Welch threw a 50.27m and Jarrett Hart threw a 44.80m at WT.
- One week removed from her ASC championship in the women's hammer, Jaalah Puryear threw a 47.60m throw at WT on Sunday. Her personal best remains 49.58m.
- Less than one meter off her personal record that got her a podium finish at the ASC meet, freshman Allissa Rodriguez finished third at WT with a throw of 35.84m in the women's javelin.
- Jada Morris jumped a 5.28mW (4.6) mark in the long jump. Her personal best is 5.29m (1.1).
- Kelby Tidwell finished with a 3.32m mark in the pole vault, but remains in the national Top 50 at 43rd with her mark of 3.55m.

The War Hawks will continue their road to the NCAA National Championships which runs from May 26-28 in Geneva, Ohio – hosted by SPIRE Institute.
