ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University hosted its lone home meet of the season on Saturday, welcoming 12 other collegiate teams to the annual War Hawks Classic at Wilford Moore Stadium in Abilene.
McMurry turned in five event wins and 24 podium finishes from its athletes – some of which were competing outside of their specialty events. Fifty athletes competed in at least one event for the War Hawks – a number of whom set personal records at the meet.
The McMurry men's team entered the week ranked No. 13 in the nation.

Track Highlights:
- Sophomore Jayden Sloan set yet another personal best in the men's 200 with a time of 21.66 to win the event. He ranks first in the American Southwest Conference, second in the South/Southeast Region and 10th in the nation. Freshman Dazhaun Walton also had a podium finish in the event with a time of 22.14.
- Freshman Najwa Campbell also moved up the national rankings on the women's side, finishing second place in the 100 meter hurdles with a new personal-best time of 15 seconds flat. She ranks first in the ASC, third in the region and 25th nationally.
- Sophomore Caleb Kwiatkowski had a personal record in the men's 100 meter dash, leading a group of seven War Hawks with a time of 10.95. He now ranks 15th in the region. Jamari Williams remains McMurry's leader in this race at 10.84 (fourth in the region).
- Nandhi Brown impressed in the women's 400 meter hurdles with a personal best time of 1:15.20 to finish second place.
- Senior Michael Limones finished with a personal best time in the 800 at 1:57.71, finishing third in the event for bronze.
- Freshman Jazmin Chacon led McMurry in the mid-distance events with a 2:31.78 time in the 800 for fourth place and a 5:11.02 time in the 1500 for second place. Both were personal collegiate records.
- Sophomore John Zuniga Jr. trimmed almost a second off his 1500 meter time from last week, placing third at the meet with a time of 4:13.93.
- Junior Kelby Tidwell set a new personal best in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.76. Tidwell, who competed in four events on the day, ranks 19th in the region for the 100. She also ran in the 4x100 relay and did two field events.
- Sophomore Justin Bozell had an incredible personal record in the men's 3000 steeplechase, ending with a time of 10:51.44 to place third. He trimmed over 30 seconds off his previous PR.
- Fellow sophomore Niigan Sunray led McMurry in the steeplechase on the women's side, placing second with a time of 13:25.22 in her collegiate steeplechase debut. Freshman Caitlin Crow finished third at 13:34.56. Both are regionally ranked within the top 30.
- Sophomore Justin DeLeon ran both hurdle events on the men's side, placing fourth in the 400mH at 57.99 and seventh in the 110mH at 17.63.
- The women's 4x100 team of Nandhi Brown, Najwa Campbell, Taya Bridges and Kelby Tidwell finished with a time of 51.97 for their first time running together.
- The men had two 4x100 teams run on Saturday, with Caleb Kwiatkowski, Jamari Williams, Jermond Lovely and Dazhaun Walton running a time of 42.42 on the A team.
Field Highlights:
- Sophomore Sutton Welch went north of 44 meters in the hammer throw for the third time this season, but this time set a new personal record at 44.81m to win the event. He ranks atop the conference and eighth in a deep region. He also finished fifth in the shot put at 12.02m.
- Nandhi Brown had an outstanding personal record in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.21m. This mark ranks third in the conference and ninth in the region.
- Sophomore Jermond Lovely won the men's long jump at 6.82m, besting 11 other athletes.
- Another sophomore, Jayden Gonzales, won the pole vault event with a mark of 4.37m. He remains eighth in the region with his season-best mark of 4.38m set earlier this year.
- Junior Kelby Tidwell notched a personal record in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 2.44m to place second. Tidwell has competed in 12 events – running, throwing and jumping – over her career.
- Freshman Losuria Webb-Barber entered the triple jump as her lone event of the day, leaping to a personal record of 10.51m to place second. She now ranks third in the ASC and 16th in the region. Tidwell also competed, finishing third at 10.37m.
- Sophomore Corbin Stulir won the women's javelin, which took place on the campus of Hardin-Simmons University, with a mark of 29.60. Fellow multi-eventer Sylvia Harmon added another personal best at 21.49m and also did so in the long jump at 4.52m.
- Freshman Jayden Sloan earned third place in the men's triple jump with a mark of 13.52m.
- Senior Ethan Blocker finished third in the hammer throw at 35.49m and fourth in the javelin with a mark of 41.58m. He set a hammer PR last week at the UIW Invitational at 36.62m.
- Freshman Glenda Parra led the team in the women's discus, finishing fourth at 31.88m. Fellow freshman Elizabeth Jordan was fifth at 30.71m.
- Senior Daniel Zarzoza III led the War Hawks in the discus with a new personal best of 37.92m to place third. Freshman Vern Angton III finished fourth at 37.71m, while also setting a new PR in the shot put at 11.83m.
- Freshman Bethany Wood matched her personal best in the high jump of 1.42m to finish fourth in the event.
- Freshman Colton Boullion led the team in the men's high jump at 1.76m to finish fourth.
