ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University Softball continues its opening season run at Edwards Field Tuesday, hosting University of the Southwest in a nonconference doubleheader.

First pitch against the Mustangs will be at 2 p.m., with game two to follow. Live stats and video links will be available at mcmurrysports.com.

NOTES:

LAST WEEK: McMurry opened the season with a split against Southwestern Sunday, winning game one 1-0, before falling 9-2 in the nightcap.

HOME SWEET HOME: The War Hawks opened Edwards Field with a 1-0 win in the first ever game at the stadium, scoring off a pair of hits in the sixth inning.

SCHOENEMAN STELLAR: Senior pitcher Hope Schoeneman went the distance in the circle in the season opening win, allowing just five hits in the shutout. Additionally, she walked just one batter while striking out nine.

AT THE PLATE: Junior utility player Savannah Flinn collected a pair of hits in Sunday's doubleheader, including the first hit for McM at Edwards Field. She later scored the first Edwards Field run on an RBI single by junior third baseman Emily Michki.

SCOUTING USW: The NAIA Mustangs have started the season just 1-8, having lost five in a row. Michaela Trevino leads USW with a .385 batting average. Brittany McCorry-White has a team-best five RBIs.

THE SERIES: This will be the first ever meeting between the two programs.
