ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University Softball hosts Louisiana College this weekend at Red Bud Park, looking to move up in the American Southwest Conference standings.
The three game series gets underway Friday at 4 p.m. with a doubleheader, with the single game Saturday at 11 a.m. Friday's contests will only have live stats, while Saturday will have both live stats and video. All links as well as updates due to weather can be found at mcmurrysports.com.
NOTES:
LAST WEEK: McMurry dropped two out of three ASC games at Belhaven University last weekend, winning game two of the doubleheader.
LEVARIO HONORED: Junior pitcher Emily Levario earned ASC Pitcher of the Week honors after shutting out Belhaven in an 8-0, six inning victory. Levario allowed just three hits while striking out two.
AT THE PLATE: First baseman Rachel Ripley leads McMurry with six home runs, 19 RBIs and a .380 batting average. Designated player Kasey Woolard has 16 RBIs, while right fielder Summer Quiroga is batting .333.
FAST START: McMurry is 10-4 when scoring first this season, compared to 0-15 when the opponent scores first.
LEADING OFF: The War Hawks have an on base percentage of .436 (78-for-179) when leading off an inning this season.
SCOUTING LC: The Wildcats are 18-10, 9-9 ASC after dropping a pair of one run games at Hardin-Simmons last weekend. Shelby Bergeron leads the ASC with a .550 average with teammate Alyssa Ross batting .439. Abby Sterling leads the Wildcats with six home runs and 30 RBIs. In the circle, Sarah Gartman has a 10-3 record with a 2.12 ERA.
