LINCOLN, Neb. – The McMurry women's basketball team is off to its first 2-0 start since the 2007-08 season and will look to take it one step further on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Nebraska Wesleyan. Tip-off from Lincoln, Neb. is set for 7 p.m.

NOTES
HOT START – McMurry will attempt to start the season with a 3-0 record for the first time since 2006-07. That season, McMurry finished 24-5 and finished second in the ASC West. In the midst of that stretch, McM entered three straight NCAA tournaments (2005-06 to 2007-08).
ABOUT LAST WEEK – The War Hawks cruised in the regular season opener, jumping out to a 24-6 first quarter lead before downing Schreiner, 72-34. Senior guard Sarah Doherty and freshman post Destiny Mathews each had 12 points, while Mathews added a game-high nine boards for a near double-double.
The following night against Texas Lutheran, senior forward Skyler Reyna dropped 20 points while Mathews added 16 in a 76-62 win over the Bulldogs. McMurry had 10 three-pointers in the contests, including three each from Doherty and freshman forward Trinity Meador.
ROAD TRIPPING – For the third straight year, the War Hawks will travel a distance of at least 700 miles for a road game with Lincoln being roughly 10 and a half hours away from Abilene.
On Nov. 17, 2017, McMurry faced University of the Redlands in Redlands, Calif., a distance of 1,192.3 miles and 17 hours. Last November, the War Hawks traveled to the Pacific Northwest to face Whitman College in Spokane, Wash. which spanned a distance of 1,669.5 miles and 26 hours.
YOUTH SQUAD – McMurry has 14 freshmen and one junior transfer on the 2019-20 roster, joining the returning senior duo of Sarah Doherty and Skyler Reyna and returning sophomore Brittany Rodgers. The average age of the team is 19.05 years old.
SERIES HISTORY – This will be the first meeting between the War Hawks and Prairie Wolves on the women's side. The men's basketball teams played once in 2001, with McMurry winning 67-65.
SCOUTING NWU – The season begins Friday for NWU as they host Grinnell College before welcoming McMurry the following night. The Prairie Wolves finished 12-14 last season with a 7-9 conference finish, ending on a four game losing streak. The team is led by senior Caitlin Navratil, who was named a preseason NCAA D-III All-American honorable mention by D3hoops.com after averaging 20.2 points per game last year. She is one of three returning starters for NWU.
