Volleyball Sweeps Past Jarvis Christian

ABILENE, Texas – For the eighth time in 2015, the McMurry University volleyball team shutout its opponent with a 3-0 win over Jarvis Christian College. The War Hawks (11-5) defeated the Bulldogs by set scores of 25-12, 25-17, 25-16 at Kimbrell Arena.

The dominating win by the McM team also enabled head coach Cammie Petree (20th season) to rest many of her regulars and play all 17 available players on her roster in the match.

In all, nine McM players had three or more kills in the match. Reserves Lauren Heathcote, Taylor London and Jasmine Jones each had five kills to pace the War Hawks offensive attack. Kristen Zander, Katy Headrick and Elisha Libhart had four kills each.

As a team, McM had a sterling .479 attack average, led by London's .833 average (5 kills, 0 errors, 6 attempts) for the match.

McMurry also served up a total of seven aces. Freshman Odalis Rodrguez and senior Jessica Cory each had two aces, while Bethany Holub, Megan Denison and Madison Fatheree had one apiece.

Fatheree led McM with 14 assists and Jessica Tennis chipped in 11 helps.

On the defensive half, McM held the Bulldogs to a 0.65 attack average for the match. The McM team had five total blocks. Audrey Sanders had two assisted blocks and Headrick the lone solo block by the War Hawks.
