McMurry University coach
Cammie Petree earned career-win No. 300 Friday morning with a 25-22, 25-16, (23-25) and 25-19 four-set win over Western State Colorado University.
"I feel very blessed. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to coach dozens of outstanding young women that each contributed, in their own special way, to this milestone," Petree said. "God has brought some wonderful players and assistants into my life over the years and I am thankful not only for them, but for all of the success we have been able to enjoy together."
Sophomore
Taylor Seaton (Big Springs, Texas/Big Springs HS) recorded a team-high nine kills, while senior
Peyton Evans (Riverton, Utah/Western Texas College) chipped in 14 assists. Sophomore
Angela Snow (Abilene, Texas/Abilene Cooper HS) helped out with 13 assists.
"It felt good to start this tournament with a win. We knew the competition this weekend was going to be very tough and we were going to have to work hard to be successful," added Petree. The girls came out ready to play and did a great job on defense. It was a definitely a nice way to start the day."
Kasi Conners (Abilene, Texas/Abilene HS) was a disruptive force at the net. The senior had five solo blocks and helped out with six kills.
McM couldn't find its grove against Colorado Christian University. The War Hawks fell in three sets by scores of 14-25, 18-25 and 20-25.
"We just had too many unforced errors," added Petree.
Conners recorded a team-high 10 kills.
McM (2-5) returns to the court with a pair of games Saturday. The War Hawks take on Colorado Mesa University and Western New Mexico University.
