War Hawk Women Can't Overcome Balanced Oklahoma Christian, 69-54

ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University's fell victim to a balanced Oklahoma Christian University team, falling at home, 69-54. The setback left the War Hawks with a record of 5-9, while the Eagles improved to 9-7 overall.

OC did not have any of its players finish the game in double-figure scoring, but had eight players finish with six or more points. They also out-shot McMurry from the field m40.6 percent to 32.2 percent.

McM kept matters close early in the first half, leading by three points, 7-4, and again at 13-10 after a three point basket by Sierra Maykus at the 11:00 mark of the opening period.

But the Eagles would begin to not only overtake McMurry, but put some daylight between themselves and the hosts.  OC went on an 18-3 run to take a 12-point lead, 28-16, with 1:52 left until the break after a layup by Jasmine Hinton (8 points).

Oklahoma Christian would eventually carry an eight- point cushion into the locker room, 30-22.

Less than two minutes into the second half of play, the Eagles pushed the lead past double digits and held that margin the rest of the way. OC's largest lead was 24 points – 66-42 – with 3:36 left to be played.

McM was able to shave that deficit some by game's end as Maykus tallied five (of her eight) points down the stretch.

Senior guard Rikeita Thomas led all scorers with 12 points, followed by Maykus' eight.  Tory Salazar added seven points and had two steals.

Leading scorer Keshia Collins was held to just four points, but led all rebounders with 13 boards. Collins also had five blocked shots and had three steals.

The Eagles converted McMurry's 27 turnovers into 28 points. OC also claimed a large gap in bench scoring by a 43-24 count for the evening.
