Men's Tennis Splits Saturday Slate

ABILENE, Texas – McMurry men's tennis split its matches on Saturday, sweeping Schreiner University, 9-0, before losing to UT-Permian Basin, 6-3. The War Hawks are now 2-1 overall.

At the Nos. 1 & 2 singles slots, Chris Breaux and Casien Rico went unbeaten on the day. Breaux got by Schreiner's Austin Carrola, 6-1, 6-4 and then went on to top UTPB's Meliton Morales in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.

Rico won 6-3, 6-0 over Schreiner's second singles foe and had little trouble UTPB opponent Alvaro Sifuentes 6-2, 6-2.

Breaux and Rico also won both of their doubles matches on the chilly afternoon.

Other individual winners for the War Hawks versus Screiner included Preston Steblein at No. 3, Alex Johnson at No. 4, Arnett McClure at No. 5 and Donald Matthews at No. 6. All won in straight sets, with Matthews receiving a default.
