ABILENE, Texas – The War Hawks' men's tennis team officially opened the 2012 season with a 6-3 non-conference win over Austin College at the Seidel-Swaggerty Tennis Center on Friday.

McMurry won the Nos. 1-4 singles matches and did so in straight sets in each. McM also won the first two doubles competitions.

Chris Breaux, at No. 1 singles, and Casjen Rico, at No. 2, both won in identical dominating fashion and by the same scores of 6-1, 6-0 over their Kangaroo foes.

At No. 3, Preston Steblein toppled Zack Bengston 6-1, 6-3. At No. 4 singles, Alex Johnson defeated AC's Eric Gordon, 6-4, 6-1.

Rico and Breaux teamed up to win at No. 1 doubles to bounce the Kangaroo duo of Taran Palapiti and James Taylor, 8-1. At No. 2 doubles, Johnson and Steblein were 8-3 victors.
