PLAINVIEW, Texas – The McMurry women's basketball team will look to keep its modest two-game won streak intact on Monday evening, traveling to Wayland Baptist University for its final pre-Christmas contest. A road game is nothing new to the War Hawks (3-6), who have played eight of their nine games, thus far, away from their home floor.
In the team's last outing – and McM's lone home game so far in 2012-13 – the War Hawks earned a 67-61 win over this same Wayland Baptist team.
Rikeita Thomas and
Tory Salazar led McMurry with 15 and 12 points, respectively.
Keshia Collins added nine points, while
Ana Dominguez had a game-leading 12 rebounds.
WBU's Angeleigh Davis led all scorers with 17 points in meeting No. 1. Davis' season average is 14.1 p.p.g. Laura Castillo – who averages 9.3. p.p.g. for the Flying Queens – was on her numbers with 10 points in the initial meeting versus McM.
McMurry has won three of its last four games heading into the reciprocal bout of the back-to-back, home-and-home, series versus the WBU Flying Queens (7-6).
On the season, Collins tops the team at 11.3 points per game. However, the War Hawks balanced offensive attack has Thomas and Dominguez checking in at 9.4 and 9.2 p.p.g. Dominguez's 9.1 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game also top McM's numbers.
